Lilli in Australia

Yes, you’re right: this is the homepage of Lilian in the land of Kangaroos, Koalas and the lot! Rather than telling you all the long stories about what happened since I arrived in Australia, I use this site as a platform to publish all the heaps of photos I took during my stay. It’s an easy way to show them to all of you. Just click yourself through the page to be up to date with “Lil in OZ” :-) …(more under post “G’day mate!”)

That's Melbourne

The Skyline:

...from the balcony of my apartment, in Elizabeth Street

...from Brighton Beach

Flinders Station:

Flinders Street Railway Station at the corner of Flinders and Swanston Streets is the oldest city station in Australia, built in 1854.
Here I take nearly every day the train to go to and come back from Footscray where my uni campus is located.

At the Southbank Promenade:

when Marco was here:-)

at the banks of the Yarra with my mum

the BearBrass - a nice place to have a drink

In the city:

the State Library & Federation Square
free City Circle Tram
Cook's Cottage (home of the parents of Captain James Cook, imported 1933 in the Fitzroy Gardens)
Victorian style houses

Some arcades:

The Crown Casino & Entertainment Complex:
...where every full hour from 6 pm huge fire balls light up the whole promenade

From the Melbourne Observation Deck:
Around this lake, which is located in the Albert Park, winds the Formula 1 circuit.

Through the city of Melbourne meanders the Yarra River.
Close to the river in the back of the picture you can also see the arenas where the Australian Open take place anually in January.
The huge round station on the right of the tennis arena is the Melbourne Cricket Ground, a stadion for many sports events. E.g. the Aussie rules Football = Footy, for which the Australians simply go crazy.

Can you find my apartment?
--> it's right in the middle

Melbourne is located on the northern end of the Port Phillip Bay...

The colourful beachhouses on Brighton Beach in the west of Melbourne along the Port Phillip Bay.
The Shrine of Remembrance is located on St. Kilda Road, just south of the CBD. It is Victoria’s largest and most visited war memorial. In remembrance of those who served and those who died in the World War I and other armed conflicts. It is a permanent memorial for the ANZAC (Australian and New Zealand Army Corps from the 1st WW) which is confirmed by the number of visitors to the Shrine throughout the year and the many people who attend the many ceremonies that are held at the Shrine annually.
