World Cup 2006!!!
I don't think this post needs many words!
Unfortunately, all those Germans that are here with me in Australia during the World Cup taking place at "home" are not able to be part of that extraordinary event! The atmosphere in Germany must be amazing!!! Unique and incredibly overwhelming! That's what they told me from home.
Anyway, the World Cup also reaches the Aussie television :-)
Only problem: the time difference! Games played at 6 pm (EST) are transmitted at 2 am in the morning of the next day (+8 hours). Matches at 9 pm (EST) require to get up at 5 am in the morning or to make a long night through - and that during exam period at uni whole June through...
Nevertheless, WE WATCH GERMANY (if we find a place open at night showing it)!!!
Compared to what is going on in Germany, our crowd of German fans is rather tiny, but we still can party! Also at Federation Square, the main square in the centre, is filled up with more than 13,000 people to follow the great events!
As you have read in a previous post: I watched the Opening Ceremony and Game while I was in Alice Springs.
The pictures below now show us at the "Steakout" in the huge Crown Casino Entertainment Complex for the match
